The North Texas Regional Center for
Innovation and Commercialization (RCIC) is the regional agent for
the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) Committee. Acting as the ETF's
agent, the North Texas RCIC identifies, evaluates and develops new
technologies in the North Texas region. RCIC aims to increase cooperation
between industrial, financial, and academic entities, to create new
commercial entities based on those technologies to establish new,
sustainable, high-growth-potential businesses in the region. In addition,
the North Texas RCIC will identify and evaluate non-state funded research
projects with commercial potential that are candidates for matching grant
support from the ETF. At the request of Governor Perry, the Texas
Legislature approved HB1765 which established the Texas Emerging Technology
Fund (ETF), with $200M of state funds to be made available over the
2006-2007 fiscal years.
